Love In Action?

For all those who actually care, here's a story that might interest you. http://www.alternet.org/rights/22280/ Setting Him Straight? is about a teenager, named Zach, who's parents forced him to go to 'summer' camp. Not too bad, right? Well, this was a summer camp designed to 'de-gay' kids. That's right. Take in gay teens and turn them straight. According to the website "Love In Action is a Christian discipleship ministry that exists to restore those trapped in sexual and relational sin through the power of Jesus Christ." In my opinion, this story is heartbreaking. The thought that these parents would do that to their child is terrifying and should be illegal. The things that go on in this 'camp' are abusive and psychologically damaging. But my opinion is just one, so, I'm asking you. What's your opinion on this? By Miranda D.

  1. That's a shame that there are parents out there that are so unaccepting of their child's sexauality that they would send them off to a camp like that. I respect religeous people, but sometimes things like this go just too far.

  2. Wow, that's really sad. A Family Guy episode got in big trouble for having a carachter go to de-gay camp. I think it's starting to be a really big problem, that's really sad.

  3. This is absolutely atrocious. Parents should be more accepting of their children. They aren't perfect, so why do they expect their children to be "perfect?" Being gay is perfectly acceptable. In fact, it's very likely that gays will gain full rights in the future, just like "colored" people gained their rights in the past.

  4. It's really sad that parents could but their child through such abuse. Emotional and psychological abuse won't change someone's sexual orientation. The article does a good job exposing this rising issue.

  5. I can't believe parents actually let their kids go through that kind of torture. It's things like this, that make the world a bad place.
